Roku Remote Information and Troubleshooting Tips
Based on the Roku TV, you can use two different types of remotes,
- Standard Infrared (IR) Remote.
- Enhanced “Point-Anywhere” Remote.
If you Roku player support standard IR remote, this remote will transmit the infrared signal (Invisible signal) when you’re pressing the remote key. This signal directly points to Roku player and if there is any block in their way, the single will get lost. So make sure there is nothing between Roku player and Roku Tv.
Enhanced “Point-Anywhere” Remote is working by internet connection, so there is no need to point the remote directly to Roku player. This remote support voice search and private listening with headphone features are available.
In case, your remote not working or not responding, then follow the given instruction.
Note: Ensure that you are using new inserted batteries on your Roku Remote.

Follow the step one by one for troubleshooting remote issues,
Step 1: Check the Remote battery
- Replace the old batteries on your Roku Remote.
- Make sure the LED is flashing, it indicates your using a compatible set of batteries.
Step 2: Try to pair your remote again
- Remove the battery cover in the battery compartment.
- Then continually press and hold the pair button until the pairing LED flash.
- If it’s flashed, the remote pairing dialog will appear on your Roku Tv screen.
Step 3: Restart the Roku Player and Remote
- Remove the power cord from Roku Player and then connect the power again.
- Once the Roku player will fully be booted then remove the battery from the remote.
- Put the remote battery again and check if it’s working properly.
Step 4: Clean and repair the Roku Remote
- Remove the battery cover in the battery compartment.
- Remove the power from the Roku player.
- Now press the A and B button in remote, in case, your remote doesn’t have the A and B button then press pairing button on your remote still the remote pairing LED flashes if it flashed release the button.
- In this time, you should see three more LED flashes.
- Then reconnect the power cord and pair the remote by pressing pairing button.
- Once the Roku player gets rebooted, you will see pairing message on your Roku Tv screen.
- After that, check the remote functionality.
